Cyanotype Workshop

August 4, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm BST

£15 – £25

About this event

Join us for an exciting in-person photography workshop at Fusion Arts in east Oxford! In this three-hour class, taught by photographer John Blythe, you will learn how to produce beautiful blue images using the Cyanotype photographic process.

Cyanotype photography is a cameraless image-making method that uses UV light as its developing agent. It was first discovered by English scientist and astronomer Sir John Herschel in 1842 and was used by 19th century botanist Anna Atkins to create a series of books that documented ferns and other plant life. Through this venture, Atkins is widely considered to have been the first female photographer.

All materials are included in the workshop price plus tea and coffee. There are several ticket price options to choose from:

– General admission – £25

– Under 18s / Student – £15

– If you feel you cannot afford the ticket cost please email darkroom@fusion-arts.org and we will provide you with a 50% off discount code.
